How much is my diamond worth?

The value of a diamond is primarily determined by:

CARAT: The weight of the diamond

COLOR: A wide ranging scale of colors affect prices

CLARITY: The clearer the diamond the more expensive it is

SHAPE: Round diamonds are more valuable than fancy shapes

CUT: How well your diamond reflects light and sparkles

What is the difference between a fair market value appraisal and an insurance appraisal?

Fair market value appraisal is defined as the agreed upon price by a willing buyer and a willing seller. An insurance appraisal is a formal appraisal document required by insurance companies in order to insure an item at the current retail replacement value, this is usually double the fair market value.
